Frequently asked questions
How is Wilsonart Quartz made?
Our Quartz surfaces are engineered by combining natural quartz crystals with resin, polymers, and pigments to create a durable, non-porous surface that mimics the look of natural stone.
Can quartz be used for outdoor applications?
While quartz is durable, it is not recommended for direct outdoor exposure.
Does quartz require sealing?
No, unlike natural stone surfaces, quartz does not require sealing due to its non-porous nature.
Is quartz heat-resistant?
Yes, Wilsonart Quartz is heat resistant. But it's recommended to use trivets or heat pads to protect the surface from high temperatures.
Is my quartz countertop resistant to stains?
Yes, quartz is non-porous, making it highly resistant to stains from liquids like coffee, wine, or oils.
How do I clean my Wilsonart Quartz surface?
Quartz can be cleaned easily with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the surface.
What does “low silica” mean?
Wilsonart’s low silica Quartz styles are engineered with less than 40% crystalline silica. We do so by replacing a portion of the natural silica content with alternative minerals.
Does low silica change the durability of Quartz?
No—our low silica Quartz formulations maintain the same strength, durability, and beauty while helping reduce overall crystalline silica levels in our Quartz surfaces.
Are all Quartz designs low silica today?
Wilsonart currently offers several low silica Quartz designs, with new options added to the design library regularly as we work toward a fully low silica collection.
