50+ Years of Performance

Wilsonart Adhesives have been holding projects together since 1970. Whether you need a Contact Adhesive, PVA, Solvent, Cleaner, or a premium Sealant that provides a lasting water-resistant seal, our portfolio is prepared for any surface.

Contact Adhesives

Our contact adhesives can be purchased in brush-grade and spray-grade solvent-based solutions (low-VOC, flammable, nonflammable). Contact adhesives are ideal for bonding laminates, veneers, wood, metal, and some foams and plastics. Water-based adhesives are also available.

Low-VOC Contact Adhesives

Low-VOC contact adhesives contribute to a healthier planet. These formulations help reduce emissions that contribute to ground-level ozone and smog, supporting improved air quality in our communities.

PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) Adhesives

Wilsonart PVA Adhesives are ideal for panel lamination and wood assembly, including applications with laminates, veneers, and even metals. Commonly used in cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, and architectural panel production, these adhesives provide strong, reliable bonds with variable set times — giving you the flexibility to choose between faster bonding or extended open time for greater precision.

Wood Glue

Wilsonart offers a range of PVA Wood Glues for various wood assembly applications. These glues deliver reliable, high-performance results for all your wood assembly needs.

SAFER FORMULAS THAT REDUCE WASTE

Using certified Wilsonart Adhesives helps improve overall indoor air quality without incurring additional costs or effort. Our adhesives can contribute to meeting credit requirements on a LEED-certified project, typically as a part of a finished article or permanently installed product.

We also go beyond the standard industry practice of disposable shipping containers. We package many of our adhesive products in reusable steel and plastic containers that hold up to 275 gallons. At no cost to our customers, these large containers can be cleaned and put back into circulation rather than sent to the landfill.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most common mistakes made during adhesive applications?

When applying Wilsonart Adhesives, the most frequent mistakes include not using enough adhesive, failing to let it dry properly, or not applying sufficient pressure. Each of these can lead to weak bonds and poor performance.

Are there any “tricks of the trade” to using a handheld “J” roller?

Yes. When working with Wilsonart Adhesives, use a rubber “J” roller no wider than 3 inches. Keep the roller close to your body to maximize pressure — especially helpful on uneven surfaces like plywood. Be sure to roll all edges thoroughly and cover every inch to ensure strong, lasting adhesion.

How can I know if I am working in the “open time” working window?

Try the knuckle test: press your knuckle onto the adhesive and lift. If it forms stringy "legs," it’s still too wet. If it’s tacky without stringing, it’s ready. If it feels dry or flat, it’s past the bonding window — apply a thin fresh coat and test again.

How do temperature and humidity affect open time?

Temperature and humidity directly impact Wilsonart Adhesive open times. Warmer, drier conditions shorten the window, while cooler or humid conditions can extend it — though hot, humid air may still accelerate drying unexpectedly.

Sometimes moisture forms on the laminate after I apply adhesive — why does this happen?

This is called blushing. It happens when moisture in the air condenses as solvents evaporate from the Wilsonart Adhesive, causing a sudden drop in temperature. Let the moisture dry completely before bonding, as blushing can reduce open time.

Should I expect to get the same coverage (in square feet) with Wilsonart Adhesives that other brands report?

Not necessarily. Wilsonart Adhesives specify bonded square feet per gallon, reflecting coverage on both surfaces. Many other brands list total coverage, which can be misleading if only applied to one side.

Can I use acetone or another thinner to make the product go further?

No — thinning Wilsonart Adhesive can ruin its formulation and will void the warranty.

What are recommendations for storing adhesives?

Store Wilsonart Adhesives away from exterior walls and concrete floors, which can act as heat sinks. Clean and tightly seal lids after use to prevent air and solvent loss. Follow a first-in, first-out rotation, and note that shelf life is typically one year from manufacture.

How do I speed up the dry time when using WAH2O?

Use fans or gentle heat to reduce drying time when using Wilsonart WAH2O — just be careful not to blow dust or debris onto the adhesive before bonding.

What are homogenized products, and how can I benefit from them?

Homogenized Wilsonart Adhesives save time by eliminating the need for stirring. However, WA1800/1801 still require daily stirring before use.

Which PVA adhesive is designed specifically for bonding metal to a wood substrate?

Wilsonart WA3310 is specially formulated for bonding metal to wood substrates.

What can I use to clean up after using solvent-based products?

Use WA110 or WA130 for cleaning spray equipment. For finished goods, use WA121 or WA131. For Wilsonart PVA products or WAH2O, clean with warm water while wet. If dried, diluted ammonia or vinegar can help — or use WA121 for dried WAH2O.

What spray tips are recommended for each canister adhesive?

Use tip 6501 for WA730/731. For WA700/701, WA740/741, and WA742/743, use the 80015EVS spray tip.

Does Wilsonart have an exterior-grade Adhesive?

No, we do not currently have an Adhesive specifically formulated for exterior applications.

What is a VOC or HAP?

VOC stands for volatile organic compound — chemicals that contribute to smog. HAP stands for hazardous air pollutant — substances identified by the U.S. government as harmful to air quality.
